Hi! My name is Katie and I am a US citizen currently living in Cologne, Germany, I was born and raised in Minnesota and moved to Germany in the summer of 2016. Over the course of my first 6 months in Cologne, I attended a German language course and acheived a B1+ level status for comprehending and speaking German. I then began working at a bilingual Montessori pre-school and was an English Classroom teacher for 5 years. What I enjoyed most about my position was the opportunity to engage with children from different cultural backgrounds, as well as my responsibility to encourage English language skills by introducing new vocabulary and crafting curriculums. I left this position in 2022 and have since completed a C1 level German course. I then began working as a Tour Guide providing English guided walking tours through the city of Cologne! My personal passions include reading and writing, traveling, and being in nature. I am a self-declared Communication Studies junkie and enjoy learning about human communication behavior in both interpersonal and intercultural settings.
