About Katie Dunn

I am eager to apply my passion for teaching adolescent learners in a school district that fosters industry, creativity, and community. I hope to join a team of educators where I can use my own reflections and my own continuing education at Columbia University Teachers College as a literacy specialist to improve my instruction and support student learning. As detailed on my résumé, my various experiences in a wide array of middle-grades-classrooms have prepared me to face many challenges in order to provide students of all backgrounds and ability levels with the proper tools for success. These experiences have informed my belief that the most rewarding classroom environment is one that empowers students by maintaining high expectations, supports students in meeting those expectations, and creates community by celebrating diversity. I am confident that I would be a valuable contributor to any educational community.
