CourseArc supports collaborative and iterative design practices in real time with tools that encourage input from a diverse group of stakeholders and facilitate an organized and clear development process. Traditional practices, such as the use of one-size-fits-all publisher content and isolated faculty design coupled with expensive product licenses, lead to single perspective courses that don’t meet the unique needs of learners. Many institutions struggle to create content collaboratively without sacrificing the efficiency of a single author, often resorting to purchasing expensive and rigid content designed by a single author with a uniform perspective. In contrast, we provide internal, external, and third party content creators with tools such as templates, boilerplates, commenting, sharing, and review to seamlessly build equitable courses as a team. We combine design process workflows with powerful accessibility and interactive content design tools, leading our users to achieve equity in design with every course built in CourseArc. CourseArc encourages learner buy-in and engagement by surfacing meaningful progress and performance data throughout every course. Whether on PCs or small-screen mobile devices, as learners navigate through the content, they experience agency and self-regulation to determine how to proceed, using instant feedback from assessments and activities and engaging in accessible activity options based on their needs and preferences. These tools, coupled with equitable course design and evidence-based teaching practices, lead to high success rates in even the most challenging courses.
