I am fascinated by diseases, and have a particular interest in nutrition and the beneficial effects it has on an animal's body. My research experience working with one of our main protein sources, poultry, peaked my curiosity of "we are what we eat". Before attending NC State University, I received 2 years of Veterinary Medical Technician training and an Associate of Science Degree at my local Community College. My focus for this degree was Computer Science, and Biology. I love learning almost as much as I love animals and all things biology, so in fall '18 I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science. I also minored in Nutrition and Poultry Science. As an undergrad I gained hands on experience with farm animals and earned several Quality Assurance certificates. I also spent 2 years researching within the Prestage Department of Poultry Science, where my abstract on evaluating the effects of stress in turkeys was published in February '18. My previous work experience includes about 10 years as a restaurant server, 6 months as a gas station clerk, and even 2 years as a landscaper. With these various jobs, I learned how to communicate with people from all walks of life and how to work diligently with a team as well as an individual. My future aspirations are to attend Vet School and specialize in nutrition and holistic medicine.
