Policy has the power to either create guardrails or opportunity. I realized this as a new teacher inArizona, when I sat on a school district advisory committee tasked with recommending budget cutsduring the Great Recession. Motivated by that experience, I spent a decade improving my craft as anEducator and School Leader before moving into program implementation and policy work at the State Level. I firmly believe that when we elevate the voice of students, families, and teachers, we can achieve incredible outcomes for students.Today, I have the privilege of designing programs and policies which impact over 1 Million studentsin the state of Tennessee. From expanding wrap-around services in schools to creating CharacterEducation resources, I leverage the best available research, data, and community input to createopportunity for all.
