This included the ongoing training of 18 staff members to safely and confidently assess risks while leading both children and adults through high risk activities. This training included an intensive 5-day orientation program for new staff followed by weekly ongoing training and team building sessions over the following 10-week period as well as staff skill evaluations at periodic intervals. Throughout the course of a week the Ropes Course would see over 350 children participate in 3 different elements on offer, so to ensure each session ran smoothly and efficiently I was required to create a weekly staff responsibility matrix assigning each staff member to their best suited position for each session. Most sessions would see 3 groups attending the course at any one time so it was important that I was able to quickly locate the group leader, direct them to the correct area of the course and explain what was required of them and their team to ensure sessions began on time and ran without delay, this required a high level of communication and forward thinking. To ensure the highest of standards were maintained it was also my responsibility to conduct weekly facility and equipment safety checks, perform any necessary equipment maintenance and keep an up to date equipment usage log.Working in and overseeing such a high-risk area required an extremely high level of organisation, excellent communication skills and the ability to quickly and efficiently adapt to a fast paced and consistently changing environment.
