I am a self-employed as a professional coach, working with clients who are looking to make changes in their work life, progress their career, even change direction completely and make their own business dreams happen. I am also the managing director of a small, family property business, based in Leeds and Leicestershire. My background is Continuous and Process Improvement - 18 years in Higher Education.Working at the University of Leeds (since 2005), I progressed to the position of project officer working on two, large scale transformational programmes. From there (2017-2024) I developed myself as a Continuous Improvement Specialist and became a founding member of the Continuous Improvement Team. I'm a huge advocate of the 'human centred' approach to improvement, encouraging clients to develop and apply empathy to understand the needs of their customers. In the role of CI Specialist, I increased capability in Continuous Improvement across the organsiation, contributing to cultural change via organisational learning. I used coaching methods to develop Lean Practitioners to deliver process improvement projects, CI coaches to embed a continuous improvement approach in day to day working within local service areas. I also worked with larger project teams to enable the delivery of improvements realising in benefits for customers, staff and the organisation. The last project I delivered was the scoping and delivery of phase 1 of a high-profile project to understand gaps in the organisation's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion data. For example, why staff may not be providing their data to the organisation, or selecting 'prefer not to say'. The project focused on mapping and analysis of the process for collecting equality data from different staff groups. I planned and facilitated workshops with staff, including those with protected characteristics, to understand the cultural barriers to providing EDI information.I'm Lean Six Sigma qualified to Green Belt level, with experience of facilitating, teaching and coaching Lean problem solving techniques such as 5S, visual management, 3Cs, root cause analysis, poka yoke and waste identification/removal. I am also an experienced workshop facilitator, delivering sessions in person using post-its, whiteboards and brown paper, as well as online via Teams/Zoom, using tools such as Miro to help teams visualise their processes, identify and remove waste, and prioritise actions. I also have experience of benefits identification and measurement to evidence improvement and outcome delivery.
