My name is Katie Rand and I am a May 2024 graduate from the College of Nursing at The University of Iowa. During my time at the College of Nursing, I gained a solid foundation in evidence-based practice, compassionate patient care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. I am eager to embark on a nursing career dedicated to promoting wellness and delivering high-quality care. While completing my B.S.N. degree I have completed many clinical hours amongst many different patient populations. I also was able to take part in a nursing internship between May 2023 and July 2023. During this internship I worked alongside a preceptor for 10 weeks on an adult inpatient internal medicine unit. After this internship, I stayed on with the team working as a Patient Care Technician for the 2023-2024 school year. I also completed a 225 clinical hour senior internship on a pediatric medical surgical floor. I am eager to transition from the classroom to the professional realm, where I aim to contribute to the well-being of patients and their families. With a commitment to lifelong learning and a drive to continually refine my skills, I am prepared to contribute to dynamic healthcare teams, advocate for patient-centered care, and address evolving healthcare challenges with empathy and proficiency.
