Hi there! My name is Katie Scheid and I am a senior at Johnson & Wales University- Providence majoring in Culinary Science & Product Development with a double minor in Nutrition and Marketing. I am a driven, well-versed chef with expertise in recipe development, nutrition, menu design, food service operations, and culinary arts. Growing up in a big family, food was always the unique center of every special event and holiday, remarkably bringing people together to create lasting memories. A strong involvement in my high school's Culinary Arts program furthered my passion for creating food products that are approachable, nutritious, and delicious, especially geared towards athletes and active individuals with performance goals in mind. The intersection of health, balanced eating, and food product design has always sparked my interest, especially in my journey as a collegiate athlete myself.I have always had a strong work ethic and eagerness to push myself, showcased during my time as a member the Johnson & Wales University varsity softball team, during which I have built strong skills in teamwork, time management, and communication. As a 3-year starter, I am grateful to have achieved All-Conference and All-Region accolades, All-America Academic honors, and an induction into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athlete Honor Society. I have worked in large-scale food service operations for the New York Jets/FLIK as a Culinary Intern during NFL Training Camp 2023, as well as the New England Revolution and New England Patriots at the Kraft Group and Affiliates currently. This past summer, I completed a Culinary Science internship with Archer Daniels Midland, furthering my skills in recipe development, sensory testing, trend research, and food formulations. While applying skills and expertise acquired through my coursework and industry experience, I am confident in my ability to make an immediate impact in developing products for a healthier world, while bringing forth optimism, enthusiasm, and passion as a versatile employee who is eager to learn and grow."Success is no accident.
