Anyone who works with me knows the two questions I ask the most: What does that mean to you? and What does that look like? A shared understanding of the goal, and what implementation will mean on a practical level, are the backbone of problem-solving. My position revolves around interpretation, communication, conflict management, and solution-seeking. When we investigate opposing views, and interrogate our own biases and assumptions, we can hear each other better. This leads to progress and resolution. In addition to my regular work in Classifications, I was HSA's lead at the provincial bargaining table for the most recently negotiated Community Health Sub-sector Collective Agreement. I have been an Occupational Health and Safety steward with a particular focus on psychological well-being, was a founding member of the staff committee on Equity Diversity and Inclusion, and am now Vice President of HSASU, our independent staff Union. All of my shoes are dancing shoes.
