Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I am passionate about scuba diving. My journey into diving began at twelve, inspired by my father, a former professional diver. Over the past decade, scuba diving has become one of my favorite hobbies. It has taught me much more than just underwater hand signals and PSI units; it has imparted profound life lessons that I carry with me daily.1. Embracing Pressure: Equalizing ear pressure in diving mirrors life’s pressures, which can be aggravating but also push us to new heights. Divers often ascend or even descend a few feet to find relief, teaching me to step outside my comfort zone and trust the process. Persistent challenges remind me to listen to my body, reassess situations, and ground myself both literally and figuratively.2. Being Present: Diving necessitates complete presence in the moment. The inability to speak underwater heightens my awareness of breathing and surroundings, both in and out of the water. This discipline of performing serious tasks while remaining alert and calm is a valuable skill applicable to many aspects of life.3. Looking Below the Surface: With each dive, I venture into deeper and darker waters, encountering greater risks and rewards. These awe-inspiring experiences deepen my love for nature and underscore the importance of environmental conservation. They also remind me of the value of looking beneath the surface in all endeavors.
