Katie is a member in the Litigation Department/Labor & Employment Practice Group of Frost Brown Todd. She concentrates her practice on labor and employment law issues, including litigation, arbitrations, conducting investigations, and advising employers on compliance with various federal, state and local employment laws. Katie rejoined the firm in 2009 after serving as in-house Employment Counsel for Kindred Healthcare for over four years. At Kindred Healthcare,she advised executives and managers in the Health Services Division, which included approximately 230 nursing homes in 27 states, on compliance with various state and federal laws relating to employment. In addition to her counseling role, Katie managed Kindred’s Charges of Discrimination nationally, conducted numerous investigations, and developed various training programs, including a program entitled "Preventing Harassment in the Workplace" to comply with California’s state law requirements regarding harassment training. Katie possesses vast knowledge of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and 1991, the Kentucky Civil Rights Act (KRS Chapter 344), the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (and the Older Worker Benefits Protection Act), the Family and Medical Leave Act, the Fair Labor Standards Act, Kentucky's wage and hour laws (KRS Chapter 337), and various other employment laws, torts and contract causes of action.
