My academic interests are in the communication of agricultural and natural resources topics, both processes and effects. Subjects of interest to me are food labeling/marketing; communicating about animals -livestock, wildlife, and pets; and transparency and trust in ag communication efforts. Most recently, I have been leading research projects to develop and test social marketing approaches to mitigating problematic human-wildlife interactions. My professional background is in web and graphic design and market research, but I also have some journalism experience. I teach or have taught courses in visual communication, science of science communication, controversial science issues communication, conservation marketing, survey research methods, quantitative methods, public relations principles, campaigns, social media management, and web design. I am also well-versed in and could teach courses on focus group methodology .
