Special Library Assistant Ii, Off-Site Storage Assistant
Current-Assumes responsibility for the daily library operations of the Archival Center in the absence of the Off-Site Storage Supervisor.-Executes the policies and practices of the library as they pertain to the care, maintenance, order, and operations of remote storage locations and supervises the appropriate handling of library items and property. -Assists in training library assistants and library aides to carry out their duties.-Develops and maintains an understanding of the Library's integrated library system, the IMLS, and other computer applications that pertain to accessioning, circulation, and shelving activity at remote storage facilities.-Loads and unloads boxes, bins, book trucks, and other carriers of library materials.-Supervises and participates in activities related to the accessioning and physical maintenance of stored materials, such as bar coding, collating, vacuuming, using book cleaning machines, stabilizing, typing, wrapping, or boxing materials accessioned into the Archival Center.-Barcodes materials; folds, assembles, and barcodes trays and boxes; sizes and sorts items, and scans barcodes into the ILMS.-Labels and scans shelf barcodes.-Using specialized equipment to shelf, retrieve newspapers, trays and boxes.-Assists in determining shelf reconfiguration and adjustment needs.-Verifies and prepares requested items for delivery.-Scans items to create electronic copies as needed and makes them available to users through electronic data delivery. Identifies problems requests and informs staff as appropriate. - Ensures the consistent application of procedures and policies pertaining to circulation and related functions of the IMLS. -Supervises and prepares statistical reports, revue reports, supply requisitions, and other reports as required. -Assists in planning and suggesting improvements to functions and services related to the Library's remote storage facilities. -Generates and uses inventory control system lists.
