The greatest compliment Katie has received in her professional life to date has been, “I would follow you into Mordor.” It was a generous affirmation of her leadership skills – and revealed the true nerdiness of her co-workers.Katie’s work as an actor, teaching artist, and arts administrator for the past fourteen years has unearthed a unique and highly marketable skill set: planning and coordinating unforgettable events. Katie's freelance event coordination has included theatre announcement parties and non-profit fundraising galas; beautiful wedding celebrations in the mountains of North Carolina and San Diego Bay; and the itinerary, accommodations, personnel management, contract negotiation, and on-the-ground coordination for multiple professional theatre tours in 10+ states.In her current role as Senior Operations Manager, Katie facilitates biannual governance meetings around the world for electrical and electronic engineers. In her two years with Conference Catalysts, Katie has hosted groups in Helsinki, Padua, London, New Orleans, Gold Coast (Australia), and Tokyo, and she is looking forward to meetings in Singapore, Yokohama, Athens, and Washington DC in 2024. Given Katie’s commitment to watching “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead” on repeat as a child, it is no surprise that the phrase, “I’m right on top of that, Rose” is a foundational belief for Katie.
