Syndication Editor
I manage editorial schedules for multiple brands and syndicate content across international markets including the UK, US, Australia and India. I edit photo galleries and optimise headlines, main images and keywords to maximise performance and grow audiences across the globe. I also use analytics tools to analyse content performance and make strategy recommendations.
Group Seo Editor
I developed an SEO strategy focusing on building search audience on key sites across the business. I’m an experienced people manager and led a team of 25 writers and content editors who created national and local content for sites across the UK. I also led on the affiliates strategy for the group and trained newsrooms across the business on digital skills including using the CMS system, SEO, story structure and analytics. I used analytics tools including Google Search Console, SEMRush and Parse.ly to identify content and keyword priorities for different regions, as well as used Google Trends to build content plans.
Seo And Affiliates Lead
As SEO and affiliates lead I implemented and led an SEO affiliate strategy to grow an audience of new readers and generate commercial revenue from editorial content including events, shopping and travel. I worked with the commercial team to bring partners on board and acted as a bridge for communication between the departments to ensure the success of the project. I created an SEO content plan with commercial revenue opportunities at its core and used Google Trends to track trending key words that we could create content around on a day to day basis. I also used analytics tools including Google Search Console, Adobe Analytics and Parse.ly to identify content and keyword priorities with revenue potential that were suitable for different regions. Alongside the affiliates project I worked with the Head of Trends to lead a team of ten SEO journalists who wrote national and local content for sites across the UK. I specialised in entertainment and consumer content as well as localisation of national stories.
Regional Audience And Content Editor
I looked after sites across the Midlands, Somerset, East and West Wales helping to drive audience and engagement on the websites and social channels. I led on the social media strategy for over 30 sites including a newly created national website and traffic and engagement grew over 40% in the first year. As part of the social strategy I worked with Facebook algorithms to ensure the sites were getting the most out of traffic and varying their content as well as implemented a workflow for Twitter and Instagram use. I used a variety of tools to analyse audience data including Adobe Analytics, Parse.ly, CrowdTangle, Google Analytics and Facebook Insights and reported these back to senior management and stakeholders to track progress and manage KPIs. My role also involved putting together and delivering digital training to reporters and editors to ensure all the newsrooms were working to a high standard digitally. The training included how to write content in the most engaging and search engine optimised way, how to sell it to the audience on social channels and how to track performance using various analytics tools. I then used the digital training as part of new starter inductions to ensure staff were working to our company style and standard from the offset.
Trends Writer
I worked as part of the trending team at Birmingham Live and wrote articles about anything that people were talking about at the time, whether that be a huge national story or an awards ceremony. My primary responsibility was TV and film content but I also wrote about sales, fashion and travel, along with traditional news stories. I live-blogged events including the Peaky Blinders series five premiere, which was held in Birmingham, and wrote a number of travel reviews. I specialised in SEO and wrote articles that would do well on Google.
Web Designer
As a Web Designer, I created new web pages and updated existing content on the University website as part of the wider creation of a Student Hub, where students are able to access information and support within the Student Services department.
Administrator
Two week temporary contract - I worked with the Student and Course Administration team in the first week to archive student files and clear out old final projects which needed to be destroyed. I also edited and printed student transcripts for a week.
Admissions And Enrolment Administrator
I processed UK, EU and International applications for the School of Business, Leadership and Economics. I also looked after the social media for the University’s Graduation ceremonies - this involved posting engaging content on the Facebook page.
Web Author
I edited and updated web content and also assisted a number of University-wide projects from a digital aspect, for example I worked on implementing a student help desk and managed content on the corresponding app.
