About Katie Tippens Dekker

It started with a frisbee.Establishing the Women’s Ultimate Frisbee Club at my university and serving my team as president and captain made me quickly realize my love for coordination, communication, and organizational skills. (And Ultimate Frisbee, of course.)Things that made me light up:-Prioritizing and ticking off items on a to-do list-Creating and sharing surveys and organizing data via Google Surveys/Microsoft Office-Creative problem-solving regarding logistics of tournaments and practice times/locations-Holding interest meetings to gain new members, resulting in an increase of 7 to 25 members within the first semester!With the help of my officers, we built a community with its sights set on a common goal: Nationals. We united people from vastly different backgrounds, giving them direction that led to the club earning a spot at Nationals in 2019.These skills have naturally spilled over into my professional life and aide in my current role as a drive-thru bank teller. I work with a high volume of customers in a fast-paced environment while providing excellent service. Because I work in a fast-paced environment, it’s crucial that I stay organized to guarantee efficiency. My experience leading a diverse team of people with different communication styles has helped me relate to my varied customers in order to provide a better experience.When I’m not at work, you can find me with a camera in hand. Whether it’s shooting landscapes while hiking, taking street photos, or doing pro-bono portraits, (LinkedIn headshots, anyone?) photography is my favorite creative outlet.I’m excited to continue developing professionally and look forward to what’s next.
