Engineers Without Borders is a national organization with collegiate chapters around the country. In our chapter at UC Davis, one of the three projects we are currently at work on is the Bolivia Sanitation Project of which I am one of two project leads. This project aims to design and construct 18 latrines and accompanying sanitation systems for all households in the community of Parque Colani, located in the Bolivian Andes Mountains. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and being unable to complete our planned summer implementation trip, I have led our team to pivot in the direction of remote implementation which will begin in October. The success of this implementation would make our team one of, if not the first, EWB team nation wide to do so. Another key role I play is in ensuring that we have the funds necessary to cover project expenses. In 2020 alone we have raised over $23,000 primarily coming from our team being awarded the UC Davis Blum Center's TGIF Grant.

I work directly with a professor in the Departments of Mathematics and Microbiology & Molecular Genetics to develop and format grant proposals for her lab’s research on DNA Topology and Knot Theory. I also manage the lab website, updating it with new information and publications, and work to expedite the process of hiring for the lab’s various projects.

The UC Davis BFTV Cluster is the administrative cluster supporting four departments: Biological and Agricultural Engineering, Food Science & Technology, Textiles & Clothing, and Viticulture & Enology. As an administrative assistant for the cluster, I work closely with the finance and purchasing team members by creating, responding to and closing tickets through the Request Tracker ticketing system. My position also seeks to enhance the organizational structure of the office to enhance office productivity.

While working with the UC Davis Extension Center, I improved collaboration and communication with catering companies to reduce errors and cost. I also efficiently tracked and processed orders, certificates for programs, and data entry, exceeding set goals.
