About Katie Fels
I have over 15 years’ theoretical and field‐based experience as a research scientist and environmental consultant. I've undertaken and managed environmental assessments associated with a diverse range of projects in mining, gas, civil roads, rail, and more generally, the Murray-Darling Basin. I enjoy helping clients navigate environmental management, rehabilitation and offset, and provide smart ways to efficiently reduce impacts.I have strengths in project management, environmental approvals and impact assessment, offset strategy, calculation and management, and data management and analysis. I am a native vegetation accredited consultant. I have worked in collaboration with governments, industry, NGOs, government regulators and stakeholder community groups, and have a passion for engaging and working with cultural representatives whilst delivering these services. I have recently banded together with some awesome long-term colleagues to become Lathwida Environmental, with a focus on environmental approvals and ecology. We are working on some of the biggest projects in SA, finding the best possible solutions to complex problems, backed by science and an astute understanding of legislative frameworks at a state and federal level.I own my responsibilities on the projects and programs that I work on, and I continually seek out the best, balanced solution for my clients. I prefer to work collaboratively with my clients, understanding the drivers and motivations of their business and project needs, but can also work with complete autonomy as required.
