Katie Fleming is a Procurement Graduate at Murphy. Colleagues describe them as "I worked with Katie whilst she was the Social Impact Intern at Oracle. She volunteered to support the UK Public Sector Team in 2022 as they were preparing to support the national Levelling Up agenda through specific regional engagement activity; most notably, in the development of Digital Skills. Katie volunteered to lead the Oracle team who took part in the Lancashire Teen Tech Festival. The challenge here should not be understated: coordination of multiple departments from Oracle (from research to tech sales); engagement in Lancashire with the local Lancashire Enterprise Partnership; engagement with executive leadership to secure funding for regional sponsorship; and co-ordination of the team at the event. Most importantly, Katie worked with a number of innovation leads to create a compelling and exciting technology stand in which school age children engaged with Oracle technology. The result was both strategic and significant, and Oracle have been asked to repeat the process for other festivals around the UK. Katie was superb throughout, performing way above the standard expected of an intern. She consistently ensured all the correct people were involved and that they were kept informed by organising regular meetings, while keeping the team on track with milestones and sending out updates. Katie was clearly passionate about the cause which transferred to others helping to create a successful Oracle volunteering event. Katie went beyond her intern duties in many ways, the one that stood out was the genuine encouragement of the wider team. She is a natural leader with confidence and humility to match. Unsurprisingly, Katie was awarded with the 'impact award' during her time at Oracle. Katie was working with Oracle and they were providing activities and staff for our TeenTech Festivals which are aimed at inspiring school students to learn about careers in digital, science, technology and engineering.
