As Director of Offshore Substations for Kiewit Power Engineers, Katie is responsible for leading the emerging market into a successful business. Katie provides oversight and direction for all offshore substation projects, from business development, conceptual design, estimating, detailed design, an integration with procurement, construction, and commissioning to provide clients with a turnkey offshore substation solution. Katie’s experience with engineering, procurement, and construction; personnel and department management; and multiple markets within Kiewit provides a well rounded skillset to lead the team to optimal collaboration to deliver clients with offshore substations safely, of premium quality, and with cost and schedule certainty.

Responsible for founding an electrical and controls estimating department in Kiewit's emerging Industrial market. The department is driven by cost based estimating; responsible for ensuring the scope of work is clear, project risks are mitigated, design quantity budgets are accurate, and labor rates are selected appropriately for the type of work. The department is comprised of engineers and estimators with diverse experience, and it is imperative that the group is consistently adhering it Kiewit's EPC implementation philosophy.

Lenexa, Ks

Responsible for auxiliary power system design for Lackawanna Energy Center, a first of its kind in the United States. The power projected included three 1x1 single shaft gas and steam turbine generator power train, each train complete with its own HRSG and Air Cooled Condenser. The role entailed serving as the Engineer of Record for the electrical design deliverables, as well managing a design team of over 30 people.

Responsible for auxiliary power system design for Elk Station Units 1, 2, and 3, a site of three simple cycle gas turbines. The role entailed remotely managing an electrical design team, coordinating with a challenging client, and managing logistics of a complex construction schedule.

Lenexa, Ks

Key contributor to the design of auxiliary power system for various power related projects. Responsibilities included electrical system analysis studies, equipment sizing calculations including auxiliary power transformers, secondary unit substation transformers, medium voltage switchgear and motor control centers, low voltage switchgear and motor control centers, battery and UPS systems, and electrical heat tracing. Also responsible for authoring the aforementioned electrical equipment specifications and contract management through the engineering, procurement, and construction phases of the project.
