I began the Digital Literacy program at Connect Arkansas at the end of 2012 and, as of the end of May 2015, we have taught approximately 1,600 hours of classes and 4,000 students around the state of Arkansas. I work with libraries, universities and other organizations in Connect Arkansas' in the southern half of the state to schedule the classes and teach the class topics that are most needed by community members. Most students come to multiple classes and many have progressed from the Computer Basics 1 class throughout all of the topics. These classes provide much needed instruction in a comfortable atmosphere with lots of individual attention. Class sizes are intentionally kept between five and ten individuals so that students can learn more easily and do not feel embarrassed about asking questions.Prior to receiving state funding, the Digital Literacy program was staffed by myself and only operated in 17 counties throughout the state. However, the program added an additional trainer in August 2013 and were then able to offer classes in all 75 counties.

Little Rock, Arkansas Area

I worked with the Connect Arkansas team and Arkansans at the local, county, regional, and state level to advocate for broadband deployment and ensure that Arkansans are able to capture and utilize all the benefits high-speed internet has to offer.I also work with the Connect Arkansas team on existing broadband outreach activities and assist in the development and implementation of new activities consistent with the goals and objectives of local communities and the requirements of public and private broadband grants.This position also required me to monitor, supervise, and track multiple project activities on a daily basis at the state, regional, county, and local levels and document compliance of these activities with established performance standardsI plan, organize, and direct the work of community volunteers to accomplish organizational goal and objectives. I also had to be able to understand and explain broadband trends and applications and explain those to people within the state.Since beginning this position, I have also taken on the responsibility of writing and researching grants for program funding in Connect Arkansas.

In this position, I assisted in the writing, implementation and management of Host Country Agency's post-MASP business plan.I also trained advisers to utilize the new client database to effectively target trainings and services to current and prospective clients. I also trained advisers on soft business skills such as cold calling, event planning, writing goals and objectives, effective client communication, customer service, and time management.I designed the branch newsletter and trained advisers how to use Microsoft Publisher in order to ensure sustainability.Frequently, I would research and teach new agriculture techniques to advisers. This led to new and increased income generation for several clients. Additionally, I linked approximately 10 clients to international suppliers which led to cost reductions for the clients and increased revenue for the branch.

I planned and executed 15 Professional Advisory Council meetings per year and updated the continuing education records for all PAC members. I also planned and executed investiture ceremonies and Children's Circle of Care trips. This included arranging and scheduling travel, and executing program logistics. I frequently assisted other Foundation departments with the execution of major events including Miracle Ball, Will Golf 4 Kids, Wal-Mart Appreciation Day and Radiothon. I also utilized my Raiser's Edge knowledge to assist other teams with workloads which enabled them to meet deadlines.By researching potential new donors using real estate, career and financial information, I was able to create valuable leads for the fundraisers in the organization. I also researched independent living facilities for the planned gift program which resulted in one $20,000 gift and 75 new planned gift prospects.I frequently sought out and completed training sessions with the Association of Fundraising Professionals which increased my understanding of the industry.Whenever needed, I ran orientation programs for new Major Giving fundraisers and trained them on using the Raiser's Edge software effectively. I also led special projects for the hospital's centennial capital campaign including a bid by ACH to host the national Children's Circle of Care annual meeting in Little Rock.
