About Katie Poe

I've always been a person who enjoys disrupting the status quo. I'm not afraid to ask why things are done the way they are, and changing processes and programs if there is a better way to deliver work or services. While working full time in the Fundraising department, I attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where I received my Masters of Business Administration degree in May 2008. After graduating, I decided to disrupt my own status quo by joining the Peace Corps as a Community Economic Development volunteer. I left for Mongolia in June 2009. In Mongolia, I worked for the NGO Development Solutions, which was funded by the USAID until becoming sustainable in 2011. I advised business clients in many different areas, but, more importantly, I helped the advisers that I worked with learn better business advising practices.I returned to Arkansas in August of 2011 and began working at Connect Arkansas, a subsidiary of the Arkansas Capital Corporation Group, in January of 2012. As an eCommunities Analyst, I traveled to undeserved areas of Arkansas working as a broadband advocate and community liaison. In November 2012, I began the Adult Digital Literacy Program at Connect Arkansas to teach computer and internet skills to adults in the organization's 17 funded counties. My role officially changed to Adult Digital Literacy Program Coordinator in June 2013. In October 2013, the program grew to all 75 counties in the state as well as added a trainer to the staff. By teaching these classes, I have been able to personally witness thousands of individuals grow their skill sets and confidence with technology.Specialties: Non-profits, marketing, product diversification, community analysis, cross-culture work, program development, training development, research, budgeting, cost cutting

Listed skills include Community Outreach, Fundraising, Nonprofits, Program Development, and 27 others.

Digital Literacy Program Coordinator

Connect Arkansas

I began the Digital Literacy program at Connect Arkansas at the end of 2012 and, as of the end of May 2015, we have taught approximately 1,600 hours of classes and 4,000 students around the state of Arkansas. I work with libraries, universities and other organizations in Connect Arkansas' in the southern half of the state to schedule the classes and teach the class topics that are most needed by community members. Most students come to multiple classes and many have progressed from the Computer Basics 1 class throughout all of the topics. These classes provide much needed instruction in a comfortable atmosphere with lots of individual attention. Class sizes are intentionally kept between five and ten individuals so that students can learn more easily and do not feel embarrassed about asking questions.Prior to receiving state funding, the Digital Literacy program was staffed by myself and only operated in 17 counties throughout the state. However, the program added an additional trainer in August 2013 and were then able to offer classes in all 75 counties.
