Following significant, fast, international growth within the Ashfield Division of UDG Healthcare Plc, I led the Ashfield Divisional Procurement Team in creating and executing the business’ new procurement strategy for Ashfield’s European businesses. My role principally comprised of leading the Procurement team in projects designed to (i) leverage savings, and maximise value and service delivery; (ii) maximise margins through the effective application of our cost model across multiple jurisdictions; and (iii) introduce processes within the department to improve efficiency and collaboration. This required a global, regional and local understanding of, and approach to supporting, the organisation’s needs and requirements and I worked alongside stakeholders and managed stakeholder relationships with colleagues at all levels of the business from Directorship down.

I provided legal and commercial support to Ashfield's businesses around the world operating across multiple jurisdictions, cultures and time-zones. My role predominantly involved drafting, negotiating and advising colleagues across the business including board members, on a wide range of commercial contracts across multiple service areas within the Division and its businesses, as well as the provision of general commercial legal and risk management advice and the creation and implementation of compliance programmes.

I was recruited following a successful secondment during my training contract to support Mercedes’ UK businesses with commercial legal advice including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, advising on new financial products, IP protection and regulatory matters. Within this role I was responsible for the line management of trainee solicitors on rolling secondments from panel law firms.

Recruited on qualification from Wragge & Co, I provided contentious and non-contentious employment advice and support to a wide range of corporate clients as a junior solicitor. I was also heavily involved in the roll out of a government funded pilot programme supporting local businesses with the management of sickness absence through the provision of professional advice and support.

As a trainee solicitor, I undertook a full range of legal tasks during seats in Commercial Property (Birmingham), Employment (London), Commercial Litigation (Birmingham) and Secondment to Mercedes-Benz (Milton Keynes). I was offered a role within the Employment team on qualification.
