I'm very much a people person, my strengths are in leading teams and managing strategic improvements internally and between companies.In 15 years working in engineering I have worked with Presidents and Directors through all levels to the cleaning staff. In this role I managed 47 staff over 3 shifts delivering output of product from Taunton, UK site to an assembly plant in Bedford, Massachusetts. During this time I have also aided in the project management of the build phase of a new factory which I designed and contracted earlier in my career at Cambridge Technology. The building went on to be shortlisted for the 2023 Safety and Health Excellence Award for Best Health & Safety in Manufacturing. During my time as Manufacturing Manager I have achieved the following:• Increased productivity by 28% from 35 to 45 moves per head• Built excess stock of 3 months of demand including contingency to support the factory move• Decreased throughput time from 20 days to ~17• Reduced line WIP from 5,000 to ~3,500 with no effect to output (£1.1m reduction)• Remodeled the current MES system to provide increased production control, leading to a justification for a new fit for purpose MES system which I’m currently designing• Growing the production team from 36 to 47 staff and implementing a new night shift• Increased 6S & process compliance scores from ~80% to >95% consistently

Industrial Strategy Manager

My primary role as Industrial Strategy Manager was to secure investment in new technology and processes to increase yield, reduce throughput time and increase output at the local site, in advance of a move to a newly fitted out factory. This involved liaising between engineering departments and finance to communicate the benefits and payback of new technologies, writing financial justifications and aiding with the project management of implementing the new technologies with engineering. In total through this role I secured just over £1m of investments in new machinery, equipment and plant, which drove increases of yield of 10% and reduction of throughput times from 28-30 days to <20 days.Part of the role also required analyzing the demand and forecast portfolio from sales to identify and improve on low margin business. The result of this in some cases was an increase of margin by up to 10x, and the end of life of several product lines which, could not remain profitable.
