In this role I managed 47 staff over 3 shifts delivering output of product from Taunton, UK site to an assembly plant in Bedford, Massachusetts. During this time I have also aided in the project management of the build phase of a new factory which I designed and contracted earlier in my career at Cambridge Technology. The building went on to be shortlisted for the 2023 Safety and Health Excellence Award for Best Health & Safety in Manufacturing. During my time as Manufacturing Manager I have achieved the following:• Increased productivity by 28% from 35 to 45 moves per head• Built excess stock of 3 months of demand including contingency to support the factory move• Decreased throughput time from 20 days to ~17• Reduced line WIP from 5,000 to ~3,500 with no effect to output (£1.1m reduction)• Remodeled the current MES system to provide increased production control, leading to a justification for a new fit for purpose MES system which I’m currently designing• Growing the production team from 36 to 47 staff and implementing a new night shift• Increased 6S & process compliance scores from ~80% to >95% consistently

My primary role as Industrial Strategy Manager was to secure investment in new technology and processes to increase yield, reduce throughput time and increase output at the local site, in advance of a move to a newly fitted out factory. This involved liaising between engineering departments and finance to communicate the benefits and payback of new technologies, writing financial justifications and aiding with the project management of implementing the new technologies with engineering. In total through this role I secured just over £1m of investments in new machinery, equipment and plant, which drove increases of yield of 10% and reduction of throughput times from 28-30 days to <20 days.Part of the role also required analyzing the demand and forecast portfolio from sales to identify and improve on low margin business. The result of this in some cases was an increase of margin by up to 10x, and the end of life of several product lines which, could not remain profitable.

I am responsible for measurement, development and improvement of all business processes on Taunton site and the development, management and implementation of quarterly improvement plans.My role currently requires me to deal with all functions on site including purchasing, manufacturing engineering, operations, research & development, facilities management, ICT, software development, planning & scheduling, quality control, HR and document management.In my work with the materials planning department I have implemented supplier and production kanban methodologies to reduce product inventory. Currently I have driven improvements that are predicted to reduce inventory by £130,000 in 2014-15 with a £80,000 saving to date. New projects are also underway to significantly further reduce inventory and reorganize stores areas.I am currently developing several Microsoft SharePoint based systems to manage production processes, facilities requests, health & safety reports and to share information with the wider group. These systems have already improved response times to plant failures and supported investments in new capital.I have launched a 5S program in several departments to identify and implement improvements to workplace efficiency and drive further improvements.I have had involvement in organizational development and the recruitment process of shift cell leaders and other new roles within the organization including the recruitment of a Continuous Improvement Technician who has proved herself invaluable in process development and research of new production methods.Also I have structured a document management system within Microsoft SharePoint for the dissemination of engineering documentation throughout the business and proposals for new ICT hardware and software to support this.During my time so far at GSI I have built good relationships with internal and external customers, with a view to improve the business significantly over the coming years.

After working for 2 years as a successful Continuous Improvement Engineer within the Electrical Manufacturing Center I took on the additional role of Works Analysis and expanded my remit to three other departments: AW159 Wildcat Build Line, AW159 Wildcat Flight Operations and the Paint Shop.I also took on the additional job role responsibility of works analysis engineering. The works analysis role required me to collect, organize, analyze and present KPIs to operations management and suggest areas and methods of improvement. Through this role I put together budgetary estimates and recommendations for improvement projects and production work. I was heavily involved with designing and constructing a system to estimate standard times for all electrical operations and have led a manufacturing engineering team in an observational analysis project to support this.To manage myself and the CI team I established the business control Microsoft SharePoint site which I administrated. This has allowed for greater dissemination of improvements and highlighted more generic opportunities across several departments which would not otherwise have been realized. I also utilized SharePoint as a measurement and dash boarding tool for both management and individual work cells in workshops.
