Content Manager And Editor (Via Filter Digital)
Redmond, Wa
Here I was responsible for all aspects of editing and publishing a variety of content for Microsoft’s Game Developer Network, its dedicated website for developers and publishers of Xbox games and apps. Most publishing was done using native SharePoint functionality, like web parts, lists, and libraries, although there was a fair amount of HTML, too. I coordinated with internal customers to ensure that the site was user-friendly, and that the content was easily accessible, discoverable, and could be reported on. From an editorial standpoint, my focus was on enhancing the content's clarity, readability, and adherence to established style guidelines. The content I was involved in ranged from technical white papers, presentations, and blog entries to web page copy, publisher guides, and newsletter articles. Although the developer documentation and code samples published to the site were largely outside the scope of my responsibilities, I worked closely with the team members who created and published those materials to ensure consistency and link integrity. There were myriad content contributors, owners, and stakeholders involved with this site. Consequently, my role naturally included communication and collaboration with individuals across many levels of the organization. This was an especially enjoyable part of the job, because it gave me the opportunity to establish relationships with many people--and to become a trusted resource for the team and beyond.
