My brain doesn't function without creativity, which is ideal because the creative field is my passion. Although my background is writing, the last few years I've found myself excited over SEO and website optimization. On-page SEO is my favorite, which isn't surprising since it lives and dies by the content strategy. But I have also implemented technical and local SEO, which I enjoy (lots to learn). One of the reasons I am attracted to SEO is the strategy it requires. It's complicated at times, (sometimes seems impossible), but the idea behind it from a creative perspective is the quality of the content, the UX experience of the design, the fact that you can't choose between the search engine and the site visitor - it all weaves together. This leads to another area I've seen success and love is auditing websites - for UX, for users, for content strategies, for SEO - and fixing them. I'm great at optimizing pages, conducting keyword searches, adjusting metas and titles, checking analytics to see what's working, and flushing out opportunities to make websites shine. I'm also an experienced copywriter, although I've transitioned my love of content to the editing/proofing side. I have so much respect for today's writers who crank out content over and over (this is harder than they make it seem). But over the years, I have enjoyed the other side of it, the developmental editing part, where I can help a writer get over the wall and move their draft to the next stage. (Don't ignore the draft evolution, because it's real.) I also have a strong eye for detail - much to the annoyance of others, I'm sure! For this reason, I love quality checking: websites, emails, print materials... all of it.Prior to writing, editing and SEO, I was in hospitality. By being exposed to a multitude of personalities, I’ve acquired customer service expertise that continues to show its value in so many ways.So, regardless of where it comes from, creativity is at the heart of everything I do.
