For the last 14 years, I have moved through progressive leadership roles at Hamilton Health Sciences, one of Canada's largest academic health sciences centres. For the past 9 years, I have held the role of Director of the Research Administration team at Hamilton Health Sciences, where research revenues range from $130M to over $200M per year. We are known for our collaborative approach to industry projects, our commitment to safe and compliant research and clinical trials, and our well-established pathways for innovative work, all of which are linked to excellent research support services provided by my team.My team of over 30 professionals and experts in their respective fields includes Canada's only city wide Research Ethics Board - the Hamilton Integrated Research Ethics Board - Research Development and Relations, Research Contracts and Agreements, Research Business Development, Research Capital and Infrastructure, Human Resources, as well as DRIVE (Dare, Research, Innovate, Venture), a new commercialization platform launched in 2022. Hamilton Health Sciences has a staff of nearly 15,000 people, and serves a patient population of 2.2 million. In the 2022 fiscal year, Hamilton Health Sciences conducted research valued at $135 million dollars. In this role, I develop and lead the strategic vision for research at Hamilton Health Sciences to expand the research enterprise, ensuring that a community of 1500 research personnel among 7 hospitals and a cancer centre work cohesively together toward an ultimate goal of sustainability and ensuring that HHS remains one of the most influential research communities in the world.
