Throughout my Master’s degree I have gained invaluable lab and research skills. As a whole my Master’s project involved the purification and isolation of a protein as well as the analysis of its activity and production of a substrate. Through the span of my project I have designed primers and completed multiple PCRs, protein assays and purifications utilizing IMAC, HPLC, colorimetry and spectrometry. I have learned that I am a self-starter and can work by myself with minimal supervision and am a goal orientated individual. As a Master’s student, my written and oral presentation skills have been tested and improved upon as I was responsible for preparing a literary review, thesis as well as 2 poster and oral presentations.

As a tutor at Oxford Learning, I worked with students from grade 1-12 in topics varying from English, Grammar, Science and Math. In addition to teaching students the hard skills they need to succeed in school I was required to teach them the soft skills they also need such as time management and scheduling skills.
