JACA Architects has afforded me many opportunities and skills I wouldn't have otherwise learned in the classroom. One of the most valuable experiences I’ve had was the opportunity to start a project, and remain involved until it’s completion. I was fortunate enough to attend client meetings and observe the project’s development over the course of each phase. My responsibilities included taking field measurements, building a Revit model, drafting details and designing floor patterns for a construction set I produced. I've become very proficient using Revit, and I have a much greater understanding of health codes, specifications and the entirety of a project.

At Murphy Associates, I was able to experience the daily roles and responsibilities of manufacturer representatives, while familiarizing myself with many furniture and flooring lines specific to corporate, healthcare and GSA environments. One of my biggest contributions was producing an extensive CAL133 product index for our partners. This included the gathering of burn certificates, as well as documenting all pass/fail and component complances to create printed and electronic resources. Other contributions include writing quotes and invoices, designing marketing material, managing the showroom, ordering furniture samples, and participating in industry events.

Over the course of 4 years, I worked in several different departments including guest service. I was responsible for managing returns and defective products, making/receiving phone calls, handling billing information, mediating between multiple parties and fixing any and all mistakes that occurred.

I was responsible for independently opening and closing the department, training new employees, following and enforcing procedure and health codes, adjusting to unanticipated demands under pressure, initiating conversation and creating a more personable experience for each guest.
