Katie is a Graduate Teaching Assistant and master's student, specializing in American literature. She plans to graduate with her M.A. in English literature from Iowa State University, spring 2025. During her time at ISU, Katie has taught three different variations of writing composition courses to undergraduates. She has also served as a Graduate Research Assistant to Dr. Rochelle Zuck in the department of English.Katie's current research looks at Black women writers’ use of genre and aesthetics as strategies for resistance and conveying trauma. This project especially focuses on Frances Ellen Watkins Harper and Toni Morrison, but looks toward understudied and 21st-century writers/artists for future exploration. Katie’s research interests also include the 19th-century novel, women's writing, African American literature, religion, and print culture.Prior to her time at ISU, Katie graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Kansas State University with a B.A. in English and minor in French.
