Seattle Farm School teaches urban homesteading skills for all ages. Gardening, sewing, crafting, cooking, food preservation, natural home care, emergency preparedness and much more. Handmade and Homegrown, the Seattle Farm School way.While starting and running Seattle Farm School I have had the opportunity to learn multiple new skills, including all aspects of a small business startup, website creation, graphic design, marketing, business leadership and networking, financial organization, recruiting teachers and promoting classes, and community leadership and advocacy. Turning a vision into reality takes a lot of grit, determination and hard work and I am proud to have created Seattle Farm School and the positive impact we have provided for the greater Seattle community.

The Urban Homestead Foundation is fundraising to purchase the land at the corner of SW Dakota St. and 50th Avenue SW in West Seattle and create an active green space and urban gathering center that models, promotes and teaches green building and sustainable food systems through community and leadership development. “The Dakota Homestead” will be developed into a vibrant corner of sustainable green practices and urban agriculture, providing a place to celebrate our natural resources through demonstration gardens, weekly classes and seasonal events. The space will also serve as a food hub and seed lending library, connecting neighbors with each other and local farmers. In addition, the land will provide a wild space for schools to use as curriculum enrichment in topics such as edible gardening, urban wildlife, seasonal cooking, crafting and home finances. UHF is the first citizen based group to be awarded the King County Conservation Futures Grant which will match half of the purchase price and is seeking anchor donors, partnerships and community financial support to raise an additional $300,000 to preserve the land by December 31, 2018.Learn more about how to get involved and donate at: www.UrbanHomesteadFoundation.org.

Recruited and managed 30+ volunteer representatives from seven western states to work with local families and schools to host foreign exchange high school students on a 10 month J-1 visa. Achieved one of the highest placement records in the country and built strong relationships with both volunteers and administration to ensure the success of students and host families experience.
