I started on the CSRE team (Central Site Reliability Engineer), which was essentially your front-line monitoring position. I handled alerts that triggered through Pager Duty, responded to questions from our customer support center, interfaced with engineering teams in Arizona and Wyoming, and worked with our higher level SREs and Infrastructure engineers to resolve issues as quickly as possible to minimize downtime of the app.Later, I was promoted to Jr SRE to serve as the client platform SRE for our Apple and Roku application development teams. I also began cross training with Kubernetes and AWS, though changes within the company hierarchy prevented this from getting anywhere past the most rudimentary concepts. This is essentially why I'm looking for work now: I want to find a company that will value the contributions I can make and follow through on their promises of upward mobility.After a brief time with the Roku and Apple teams, I was moved to our Infrastructure team where I've assisted with projects like Netbrain and Solarwinds deployments for monitoring and visibility, managed our Cisco infrastructure including hardware maintenance and UCSM configuration, and assisted with troubleshooting various aspects of our network and computing infrastructure.Most recently I have joined the "Dyna" team, which is focused on the supporting applications that cover specific functions within Sling television such as sports programming blackouts, video encoding processes, and CDN integration. This role has finally allowed me to dive deeper into Kubernetes/Rancher and Git.

My day to day involves performing analysis of websites and IP addresses submitted by Blue Coat's customers to determine whether they pose a threat to our customers, and block access to them if they do.

Having started as a Web Advisor (Level 1), where I provided direct customer support for any and all issues relating to the technical aspect of their web hosting account, I have moved on to Senior Web Advisor. This involves "supporting the supporters", and may be more commonly referred to throughout the industry as a Level 2 technician. Some key additional responsibilities I've taken on include helping customers with PCI Compliance review, coordinating with our external email filtering service when customers are flagged, and taking technical escalation calls when customers are unhappy with the support they get from Level 1.

For SendHub, I provided chat support from my home. This was a good opportunity that allowed me to get my first real exposure to customer service, and thankfully it was also from a technical perspective. I believe my greatest talking point here, all technical learning and success with customers aside, is that when the company made the business decision to let go of the entire chat support team except for one, I was the first agent they thought of that they wanted to keep.

Liberty Safe was a good company to work for; I had a unique position that involved assisting the Director of Facilities and Maintenance in scheduling/prioritizing maintenance tasks. To aid in this, I created a Maintenance Request program by which factory workers could report maintenance needs to their floor supervisors, where a form would be signed and submitted directly to me. Then, I took these forms and ordered them according to the priority that would most effectively reduce production loss downtime.I was also in charge of purchasing for the Maintenance department, including both machinery and facilities/grounds. This involved purchase orders, inventory management, monthly audits, and quarterly reconciliation.

My primary responsibilities in the Army (aside from the generic meeting of standards required to be a member of the US Armed Forces) were to maintain the Army's fleet of trucks. This involved a great deal of things; due to my change of industry from automotive technology to information technology I won't go into a great amount of detail, but I would like to note that I was often tasked with going outside of my primary job responsibilities.Sometimes this involved filling in with our supply acquisition team using the Army's SAMS-E system for orders, sometimes I took on additional responsibilities directly related to the motor pool (tool room, HAZMAT, etc). As a Specialist (E-4), I was often placed in charge of overseeing annual services being completed by lower ranking soldiers, which gave me invaluable management experience.
