Currently pursuing a Civil Engineering degree at the University of Florida. My past experiences, from work to school to extracurriculars, have helped me develop vital engineering qualities and principles. In high school, I developed teamwork and leadership skills. I was a math tutor for many of my peers, allowing me to have a unique connection to my students. I worked alongside them to help their understanding, not just telling them how to do it and hoping they comprehend the material. This also took leadership skills to know that I was good enough to be able to help others. Both of these skills are crucial in a professional environment, as one has to know where their strengths and weaknesses are, and when to lead the group or let others take the lead. In my work experience as a camp counselor, I developed problem solving and multitasking skills. In order to watch over large groups of children and oversee activities, I had to multitask. This job experience forced my multitasking skills to grow rapidly, since you have to be everywhere at once, otherwise a camper will get hurt. Additionally, as the campers were constantly getting tired of the planned activities or getting hurt or misbehaving, I had to problem solve. From coming up with a new craft, to creating some incentive to behave, this job constantly kept me on my toes. These skills are so vital in a Civil Engineering position, as you have to juggle multiple things at once, to inclement weather to inaccuracies in bridge designs, to the crew overheating.All of these experiences and opportunities have made me who I am today. From multitasking to teamwork skills, all of these make me a prime candidate for Civil Engineering internships.
