My job with the Student Technology Lab allowed me to use my knowledge and skills that I have, and apply them in the real world. I enjoyed assisting the students that came in with their coursework, expanding my interpersonal skills through dealing with a multitude of different situations. I taught students how to use several types of software, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and several video editing programs. I used both Mac and PC operating systems there, and taught students how to use each for their homework or projects.

I.D. Images Llc

My internship at I.D. Images was an great learning experience for me, I was put in a position where I could not only learn, but have an important role in the company and have responsibilities of my own. The company merged with several others in the year before I arrived, leaving them a digital Indigo press that they did not know how to run. My first job was to the procedures and policies that I.D. Images should adopt for this Indigo press. I determined the ideal amount of time was needed for Indigo jobs, where the pre-press department should reside, and the pros and cons of investing into the department.I soon went to work with the press. In a few short weeks, I became an expert with the press. Reaching out into the industry for contacts, I started working, testing out its capabilities by creating fake jobs. I did this to see what the press’s limits were, and what problems I could solve with it. I created standard operating procedures, eventually laying out over seventy pages worth of step-by-step content to be a reference in the future for any projects or problems one might face with various jobs. Another thing I created during this time was a proof layout for the digital press.I was sent over to the Chicago facility several times during the course of my internship, to work on various technical issues with the press, run jobs, and get an overall feel of how things worked at a different location. Over the summer, I worked to answer those questions, along with running jobs for the press as they came through, and work on various graphic arts projects that the company needed. This included updating or creating catalogs for the sales department, where I worked with the sales department and gave my own input on the layout and design. I also created samples that could be sent out to advertise the printing capabilities of I.D. Images. This included various pieces using a wide variety of materials, printing capabilities, and procedures.
