Hello There!Katie is the proud Owner of Slate Studios Interior Design. She founded her buisness after a decade of Interior Design, Project Management, Procurement, and Sales experience in the Hospitality Industry. She has worked with top Hotel Brands and has a portfolio of over one hundred new construction and renovation hotel projects across the country.Like so many people, 2020 brought big changes to her life and one thing continued to stand out in her mind, remembering why she entered the field of Interior Design in the first place. Hospitality Design started to drift away from her design values, and she decided to launch Slate Studios with a focus on residential.Katie is a Florida native but obtained her Bachelor of Science in Interior Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After establishing a northeastern work ethic, and a new appreciation for the warm weather, she moved back to her home state and is now a Florida Licensed Interior Designer. She is also an NCIDQ certified professional, holding certificate number 33483. NCIDQ Certification is the industry's recognized indicator of proficiency in interior design principles and a designer's commitment to the profession. Even with her industry experience, she is still always learning and continues to stay on top of the latest materials, products, and trends by staying active in the design community. Katie’s eye for design is balanced by her background in Project Management, Procurement, and Business Operations. The key for any successful design project is great communication, operating with integrity, problem-solving, and orchestrating the many moving parts of each project.To her, Interior Design is not just a career, it is her passion. She believes that Interior Design has a direct impact on people’s wellbeing, good design brings people together, makes spaces functional for their lifestyle, and most of all a well-designed home provides a haven from the rest of the world. Katie loves to use her design experience to make a unique space tailored to each individual client, make renovations and construction fun and less stressful, and prove that good design is a lifestyle, not just a luxury.

Territory Design Sales Manager, Team Lead, Project Manager/Interior Designer
During my decade-long career in Hospitality, I was blessed to work on over 100 new construction and full renovation projects. I have experience with all the major brands ranging from Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Choice, Best Western, Wyndham, Radisson, and Hyatt. I was able to take on many various roles. I acted as Lead Designer on many hospitality projects. I have a strong knowledge of each of the Brands and their hallmark items, and understand how to accommodate a tight budget. I was also a Project Manager on over seventy-five projects. In this role I learned to master strong communication both internally and externally, and how to achieve project milestones and deadlines even when the odds are against me! One of the most rewarding positions I held was acting as Team Lead, a leadership position in which I mentored and trained employees, implemented company procedures to develop efficiencies, and recruited talent. My last role with HFD was as Territory Design Sales Manager. I was in the Business Development side of the company and acted a client liaison and bridge between what is happening on site to our internal office. I conducted site-visits, monitored construction progress, assisted with installation, and ensured that proper receiving and storing was taking place. In all roles I learned how to best communicate with Brands, Architects, Manufacturers, General Contractors, Installers, Owners, General Managers, anyone and everyone I came in contact with and it was truly a pleasure!
