Walden Behavior Solutions, LLC provides solutions to individuals, caregivers and families that are struggling to function in their everyday lives because of some behavior that is interfering with their success, well-being and quality of life. Services focus on skill acquisition and problem behavior reduction through the development of a functional behavior assessment, individualized behavior plan and caregiver training, which are all supervised by a licensed behavior analyst. The programming will be implemented in the home, community and school settings in which the skill deficits or problem behaviors or are present.

Contractor for various agencies as a licensed behavior analyst. Provision of contractual behavior services in the home and in the community to individuals on the Kentucky Medicaid Waiver (SCL and MPW). Participation in the Regional Behavior Intervention Committee (BIC) and Human Right’s Committee (HRC) as a Clinical team member.Required to consult with other service providers on the individual’s team such as teachers, psychologists, psychiatrists, case managers and caregivers. Services also included providing clinical supervision to students and clinicians in the field and conducting trainings for agencies on various topics related to behavior analysis, including “Quality of Life and it’s Effect on Behavior,” “Applied Behavior Analysis 101,” and “Dementia and it’s Effect on Behavior.”

Responsibilities included the management and supervision of eight clinicians providing behavior analysis services and psychological services to over 100 adults and children living in the community and in residential settings. This included the recruitment, hiring, training, caseload coordination, quality assurance and supervision of services provided. Responsible for department referral acquisition, intake and case coordination. Upheld an on-going caseload and provided direct services to these individuals.Subject Matter Expert within the behavior department for Medicaid Waiver Programs (SCL and MPW) including regulations, procedures, and authorization management with a priority on quality and consistency of care delivery. Responsible for budget development and management of the department. Developed a budget structure to improve productivity & quality outcomes. Submitted grant applications and was awarded three grants totaling $15,000.Provided oversight of behavior services at the Family for Effective Autism Treatment (FEAT) summer camp for children with autism. Developed orientation training specific to Autism for the counselors. Provided behavior services to campers that required intensive support and conducted crisis management. Became instrumental in the opening and initial oversight to the DWW autism clinic. Responsibilities included advertising, setting up the intake and referral processes, case coordination, procurement of furniture and supplies and development of the first year budget analysis. Assisted in the development of curriculums for social skills classes held in the clinic.Maintained responsibilities of the internal Director of HRC and BIC prior to the Medicaid regulation changes. Became a member of the Area Five BIC and HRC committees and upheld compliance standards for new regulations.Other responsibilities included lobbying for regulation and funding changes at the state capital and participation in fundraising events.

Provided behavior services to adults with intellectual disabilities and psychiatric illnesses at the Bingham Unit of Central State Hospital during their transition in location to Bingham Gardens. Created transition plans for each individual, coordinated with the teams and directly assisted in the transition to the new setting. Also provided behavior services to adults with intellectual disabilities and physical impairments at the Hazelwood Center. The main focus of behavior services was the reduction of dangerous and challenging behaviors such as physical aggression, self-injurious behavior, elopement, property destruction and PICA. Behavior services included conducting functional assessments, writing individual behavior programs, creation of data collection systems, data monitoring, graphing, on-going staff training and crisis management. Trained in safety care physical management system. Required active participation in the HRC and BIC committees. An analysis of the current employee-training program at the Hazelwood center was conducted and a plan proposal for how to make it more effective was made to the DOJ consultant committee.

Provided clinical supervision to six clinicians providing behavioral services to adults with intellectual disabilities and psychiatric disorders living in residential group homes. The focus was the assessment and revision of current documents, including functional assessments, behavior created staff competency trainings and checklists objectively measuring the implementation of behavior support interventions. Lead trainer of 3 hour course “Basic Principles of Behavior Analysis” that was provided to staff on a quarterly basis. Creation of an Adult Day Training curriculum, which was implemented in the homes by the direct care staff. Chairman of the HRC and BIC committee.

Independent Contractor providing behavioral services to children with intellectual & developmental disabilities throughout eight counties located in Central Indiana. Provided clinical supervision the behavior therapists providing therapy to the children. Assessed and modified current behavior programs to ensure adequate programming and skill acquisition. Conducted initial assessments with potential clients to determine their appropriateness for services. Consultations with school administration and attended IEP meetings to coordinate and maximize services for the children in school. Creation of trainings to educate the school district on the benefits of behavior analysis.

Contracted with the Indiana Sex Offender and Monitoring Program (INSOMM) and provided behavior services to juveniles charged with sexual offenses that resided at the correctional facility. Worked in collaboration with a team of professionals specializing in sex-offender research and treatment to decrease challenging behaviors that were interfering with progression in treatment. Completed the correctional officer in-service training at the prison.Conducted an analysis of the correctional system and identified areas that would benefit from change. Assessed current level system and token economy and submitted recommendations for improvement. Conducted functional assessments of problem behaviors and utilized goal-setting and self-monitoring procedures to assist in behavior change. Conducted staff training on implementation of individual behavior programs and basic principles of behavior analysis. Implemented social skills groups for the juvenile offenders residing on the sex offender unit.

Clinical staff member and case manager for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in ICFMR residential group homes and adult day program services funded by Medicaid. Provided consulting services for regional group homes in Valparaiso that needed guidance on behavior services. Gained knowledge of required federal and state regulations for both Waiver and ICF/MR, particularly those involving behavior management and psychotropic medications. Maintain required records including monthly case notes and summaries. Created treatment goals, individual behavior programs, data collection systems and level systems to decrease challenging behavior and teach necessary skills. On-call responsibilities during night and weekends and provided crisis intervention services. Conducted agency staff training and provided staff supervision and oversight to ensure consistent and correct programming implementation. Chairman of Clinical Review Clinical meetings and member of Critical Incident Committee, Health Services Review and System’s Execution Committee.

Provided behavior analysis services and was a parent trainer for the University of Florida’s Behavior Analysis Services Program (BASP). BASP partnered with the Department of Children Family (DCF) and Community Based Care (CBC) of Seminole and Orange County to produce an intervention that would reduce placement disruptions from the foster care system and to re-unite biological families. The intervention included teaching parenting classes to individuals that were court-mandated to treatment for some report of abuse (neglect, physical, emotional, domestic) causing the removal of their children from the home. The classes were also held for foster care parents that cared for children that engaged in challenging behaviors resulting in placement disruptions. The parenting classes were research-based and were composed of a lecture, modeling, role-plays and follow-up in the natural environment. The classes were 15 hours and focused on teaching proactive interventions and reactive interventions to problem behaviors and how to develop meaningful relationships with children. Also provided in-home behavioral services for children that include functional assessments, caregiver training, and individualized behavior plans. Conducted organized research under the supervision of University of Florida.

Provided behavior analysis services and case management services in a hospital setting and group home residential setting. The populations served include children, adolescents and adults diagnosed with an intellectual disability and a mental or psychiatric illness. Behavior services included conducting functional assessments and the creation of individualized behavior support programming, teaching classes on daily living skills, monitoring and accounting for the quality of the program implementation, creating data collection systems, data monitoring, and presentations at the Local Review Committee. Client assessments included Motivational assessment scales (MAS), functional assessments, CFARS rating scale, Adaptive Behavior Scale assessments (ABS), integrated assessments, biopsychosocial assessments. Gained experience with creating token economies and level systems, teaching and training staff on basic behavioral principles and individual client programs, creating behavior analysis training modules for staff, and conducted functional analyses on SIB and aggression in analogue settings with a PhD level board certified behavior analyst.Crisis management services and on-call duties were also required. Case management services included coordination of care from intake to discharge and preparing Master Treatment Plans. The services were provided in collaboration with a team of professionals including psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, speech pathologists, physical therapists, doctors and social workers.
