FirstHealth flagship being a referral center for a 15-county region the ATC is a gateway for the admitted population. In collaboration with Lead Hospitalist, Transfer Center and Emergency Department Physicians a complex network is streamlined through the Air Traffic Controller Hospitalist. In collaboration with Emergency Physicians the ATC identifies patients that require admission. The ATC collaborates with consultants, assigns patients to a hospitalist team member of one of the largest networking groups of physicians in the region as well as places bridge orders. The same approach is utilized for incoming transfers and consults as well
