katja alakerttula at tampere dot fi , +358 40 51 83 062I am a Master of Administrative Sciences with a Major in Environmental Policy from University of Tampere, Finland. I also have an expertise on organization level carbon foot print and sustainability evaluations. I work for the Regional Circular Economy Development Center KIPI as circular economy speacialist, focusing on industrial material flows. I'm currently working with plastics, ecosystems, waste management and industrial symbiosis within the scope of regional circular economy development. Sustainability has been my main focus throughout my career. I have been promoting local and organic food production, sustainable food systems, local economies and low-carbon circular economy in the private and public sectors. I have been within the public-private partnership which is necessary for the systemic shift to happen.My main focus over the last few years has been on climate and circular economy in different EU-funded projects. Especially how city level and regional administration level can make a shift towards carbon neutral future in strategic and operational levels. As a result, I've been collaborating with two roadmaps concerning the transition.My skills are within project and event management, collaboration, strategic development and turning words into action. As a mum of 3 boys, you need to be quick on what you do and persistant on things that are important for you. It also helps to improvise since things often happen simultaneously.The source of my wellbeing is nature: wandering in forests and listening the silence. Sometimes jogging, sometimes walking and picking berries and mushrooms, or wintertime skiing. My motto: There is no planet B. Be the change you want to see, for now is the time to act!
