Kat Lazo is a master at juggling between the creative and logistical worlds of production without sacrificing the integrity of either. The Peruvian-Colombian native New Yorker is known for producing unscripted and documentary style stories with a strong social justice and thought provoking angle. With zero formal education in production, Kat has managed to acquired over a decade’s worth of experience producing content for digital startups and award winning production companies like Zero Point Zero Productions. It is precisely Kat’s self starter mentality and untraditional route into production that nurtured her to possess a unique creative thought process that otherwise may have been tainted by industry restrictions.

For the Latino digital platform Mitu, she expanded their audience beyond the West Coast to include the East Coast as well. She developed the company’s first viral web series “The Kat Call” where she turned hateful comments into an opportunity to educated and amplify her community. Within 3 seasons, the series has garnered over 30 million views. Overall her digital work has been featured in The New York Times, Huffpost, Latina Magazine and Buzzfeed just to name a few. As a producer for unscripted and documentary storytelling, she’s served as Producer for Universal Music, Mass Appeal and most recently Paramount +. Kat has traveled throughout Latin America and the Caribbean as producer for multiple projects concentrating on exploring Latino culture and history. Her latest docu series “De La Calle”, where she served as Producer, explores the sounds of Latin America.
