About Katlyn Kendall

I am an animal and human advocate. My passion is to help those who are struggling. I have a lot of animal rescue work under my belt and with my Master's in Counseling I plan to use animals to help rescue humans in need as well. I believe in the strong connection between animals and humans to help each other heal. I would love to use rescue dogs to help victims suffering from PTSD, Anxiety, trauma-related stress and other disorders. I am a student and enjoy being a student. Therefore, I keep a student mentality in every aspect of my life and treat every opportunity as a learning experience. Keeping an open mind is key to learning and improving in everyday life.I enjoy having a job and sticking to a schedule with goals in mind to accomplish. I also love communicating with others, being enthusiastic and keeping an overall positive attitude in all things I do.

    Pinups for Pitbulls was started by Deirdre Franklin in 2006 and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. The mission is to educate about pitbull type breeds and breed specific laws, while fighting the breed specific laws and negative stigma that comes with these type dogs. This organization also aids in rescue of emergency situations, removing dogs from fighting rings and puppy mills, as well as using funds for their rehabilitation. Profits also go to shelters and to members who are fostering dogs to help alleviate crowded shelters. The goal of Pinups for Pitbulls is to restore a positive image of the pitbull type dog to loving and loyal companion.

    The ReLove Education for Responsibility Project encompasses eight lesson plans, varying in levels from pre-school to eighth grade that emphasizes the idea of compassion and how to respect animals and others. It is run in Baltimore City Public Schools and we are partnered with the Baltimore Environmental Control Board to help reach our goal of cleaning up Baltimore City both emotionally and physically starting with respect for animals and for each other. The lesson plans will be presented to the Baltimore City Board of Eduction to see if we will receive government funding for this program and have the lesson plans be implemented into the academics of Baltimore City schools. I am a developer as well as an editor for these plans on a volunteer basis.
