Lise Prep English is a course that focuses on English language acquisition and development through the study of literary and nonfiction texts. Students will read a wide range of grade-appropriate short stories, poems, plays, novels, and nonfiction in order to engage in discussion and writing about how choices in texts impact the reader and contribute to meaning or purpose.

Well-being lessons are designed to proactively strengthen our students’ coping skills, ability to create healthy relationships, resilience, awareness of their safety, realistic attitudes to their future responsibilities, and healthy lifestyle choices. The lessons are a balance of learning about well-being and practicing strategies to strengthen well-being. Well-being classes are taught in LP, L9, and, L10 grade levels. They are taught in English. The well-being of students in the upper grades is currently fostered primarily through counseling classes, some advising activities, and special events.

At Oakland High School, I collaborated with a diverse group of young leaders from around the world. The school's demographics reflected a mix of 39% Asian, 38% African American, and 21% Hispanic students, fostering strong cultural competency and community values. The students exuded optimism, curiosity about the world, and a determination to forge a better future. I observed that the unique educational challenges each student faced were integral to the exceptional nature of their success.I crafted curriculum development with an equity focus, catering to the varied needs of English Language Learners and students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Working closely with colleagues, I contributed to the design of project-based curriculum spanning multiple subjects. Additionally, I implemented in-class behavior management techniques to cultivate a secure classroom environment. I also organized field trips and facilitated college preparatory internships to enhance students' overall learning experience.

Designed and taught three full-time classes at New Vista High School which integrated multiple forms of technology and subject matter including history, psychology, and biology. Classes taught included Foundations of Writing, Shakespeare Video Production, and World Literature: Mysteries, Monsters, and the Supernatural.

Longmont, Co

I adapted classroom instruction and assessments using visual aids and real-world examples to optimize student achievement. I developed lessons and instruction based on Colorado State's Language Arts Learning Common Core Standards and grade level expectations. I also developed personalized lesson plan skills that fostered student-centered learning techniques.
