Aerodynamics Test Engineer
CurrentI am proud to be apart of the Jacobs team that operates and maintains Windshear in Concord North Carolina, Americas first 180 mph rolling road wind tunnel. My role here is split 50% operations and maintenance, and 50% engineering. Engineering responsibilities include data validation, data processing, and general operations troubleshooting. Some projects I am currently working on include:* Development of a post processing tool built to handle Windshear's needs including Mercker/Cooper boundary layer corrections for production customers. * Process control data management and analytics to further understand facility phenomenon and develop predictive equipment failure tools.* Wheel force transducer calibration management including requirements, test planning, data analysis, automation, process development, and documentation. * Airflow measurement equipment calibration management including requirements, test planning, data analysis, automation, process development, and documentation.* Integration of PLC and TestSlate dynamic pressure control systemI have become familiar with Siemens measurement equipment including PLC software and coding to learn and understand Windshear's control logic and behavior. Data quality comes with the responsibility of data validation therefore, I will be studying measurement uncertainty analysis techniques to perform on Windshear's systems. As an operator of the facility I have developed a understanding of the customer's needs. This allows me create tools that meet their requirements. Participating in maintenance planning and performing maintenance greatly improves my abilities to quickly and accurately diagnose problems during operations. Thus, minimizing downtime to the customer. Windshear is a very dynamic environment that continues to challenge me. I am excited for the new knowledge and skills I gain from this experience.
