Homeward Bound is a leadership initiative for women in STEMM, providing a year-long development program to enhance leadership, strategic and communication capabilities, culminating in a three-week intensive training voyage to Antarctica (covid allowing, timing TBD). Transport Planner in the Transport and Urban Planning team. Involved in a range of climate and emission reduction related work, including developing a Transport Emission Reduction Plan (TERP) for the Bay of Plenty (BOP).

As strategic coordinator for climate change at WDC I was involved in: * The development, implementation and reporting of WDC's Climate Change Strategy and six Action Plans.* Delivering on Council's climate change actions, including the running of WDC's energy management programme and the completion of annual carbon footprint audits through Toitu CarbonReduce. Our internal mitigation workstreams achieved an overall organisational carbon footprint reduction of 23% during my involvement, with the biggest reduction seen in natural gas use that dropped by 60%. * Building relationships and working collaboratively both within the organisations and externally with our key partners and stakeholders. * Writing submissions, award application, project proposals, media releases, speaking notes and a wide variety of other documents. * Winning the Horizon Energy Group Business Excellence Awards - Sustainability Award for WDC's climate work in 2021. * Developing WDC's climate change e-learning hub as a knowledge hub on a range of climate change related topics. * Keeping abreast of national and international direction in the climate change space, whist helping to communicate a local understanding and awareness of the impact of climate change on the Whakatane District across our communities.https://www.whakatane.govt.nz/climate-change

In this role I assisted in the development and delivery of key events, tourism activities and sustainability initiatives. Networking within the tourism sector, both nationally, regionally and locally with our tourism operators, community groups and other stakeholders. 100% Pure New Zealand specialist

Research collaboration between the Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research, Whakatane Kiwi Trust, the University of Helsinki and the Rotary Club of Whakatane. Main research questions targeting kiwi conservation and the efforts to reduce introduced pests around the township of Whakatane and nationally in NZ, strongly linking to national government lead initiative Predator Free 2050.
