I think that patients are healthiest when they are in charge of their health care. I like to educate patients so they can make informed decisions about their health. I have a holistic approach to the body and to medicine, understanding that what is going on in their lives will make a huge impact on the heath of a patient. I know that a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise, stress reduction, healthy eating, and regular checkups can prevent or reverse many health problems.I love the opportunity to make an impact on my patients’ lives. My role may be as simple as encouraging them to exercise more, to remember to take their calcium, or just making them feel healthy because they are up-to-date on their pap smear. It can also be more significant, as in times of crisis or when they need a surgery. I feel great satisfaction knowing I have hopefully touched their lives in a positive way.I love how well we work together at Kaiser Permanente! I began practicing medicine in 2000 and have worked in many settings, and when I started at Kaiser Permanente I knew it was the right situation for me. With our advanced electronic records, I'm able to focus on the patient and get the information I need quickly. I don’t have to hassle with getting information from hospital visits, radiology, or consultants, because it's right at my computer. I also am able to call or e-mail colleagues to aid in patient care.
