Student Athletic TrainerPortland State Athletics Jan 2023 - Dec 2023Portland, Oregon, UsDuring my clinical experience at Portland State, I was able to learn what an Athletic Training position would be like at a Division I University. I was able to work with the Head Athletic Trainer, Kyle Nelson, as well as some of Portland State's Associate Athletic Trainers, Michael Fanning, Lorenzo Craig, and Midori Portillo. Each of these ATCs helped to develop my knowledge and skills in therapeutic rehabilitation, orthopedic evaluation, and the use of a variety of modalities. They also provided many resources (e.g., flashcards, practice exams, study sessions, etc.) to help prepare their ATS for the BOC during downtime in the clinic. -

Pbats Nextgen InternArizona Diamondbacks Jun 2023 - Jul 2023Phoenix, Arizona, UsDuring the summer of 2023, I had the opportunity to spend 3 weeks with the Arizona Diamondback through the PBATS Summer Internship Program. While there, I learned new ways of evaluating and treating patients through the concept of Postural Restoration Institute (PRI). I also learned how to use and when to use certain modalities such as pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF), electro-acuscope and myopulse, Hivamat, and shockwave therapy. I was able to learn specifically about the sport of baseball and the different aspects of the game that can put an athlete at risk for injury. I was also able to learn more about different modalities that I hadn't seen or used at my other clinical sites, including light therapy and therapeutic ultrasound. I was also able to work with some of their Associate Athletic Trainers, Jill Sikkema, Saiko Mair, and Michael Morikawa. Student Athletic TrainerTigard High School Oct 2022 - Dec 2022During my clinical experience at Tigard High School, I was able to further my knowledge in orthopedic evaluation, and therapeutic rehabilitation. While being able to work with Tigard's Atheltic Trainer, Megan Sarles, I was also able to learn more about the application of cupping, kinesio taping, electrical stimulation and instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM). She was also able to show me how important the relationship between an athletic trainer and an athlete is through the interactions I saw during my experience. She has made her athletic training room a safe space where athletes are comfortable going to her for treatment when they need it.

I also learned what being an athletic trainer in the high school setting entails from Roosevelt's Athletic Trainer, Rachel Fox. She was able to help me gain more confidence in being able to apply my knowledge and skills to real clinical scenarios. -
Physical Therapist InternWest Coast Sports Institute Jun 2021 - Aug 2021Santa Clara, California, UsThroughout my experience, I worked with patients with a variety of injuries that required physical therapy. I was able to aide in demonstrating different rehabilitation exercises to patients under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
