    My second year 10-week placement specialised in acute inpatient stroke rehabilitation and involved:- Developing therapeutic relationships with patients.- Accepting patient referrals to OT caseload.- Conducting initial interviews and initial neurology assessments.- Cognitive assessments including the Abbreviated Mental Test (AMT), Montreal Cognitive Assessment (MoCA) and the Oxford Screening Test (OCS).- Goal setting for in-patient therapy.- Conducting functional assessments including transfers, washing and dressing and kitchen assessments.- Planning, implementing and reviewing interventions including specialist upper limb interventions, transfers, washing and dressing, kitchen and group therapy.- Patient home visits, discharge and referral to community team.- Documentation and SOAP notes following all patient engagements.- Multi-disciplinary working and communication.- Working to the professional code of ethics and health and safety policies.Whilst on placement I was able to manage my own caseload of patients, taking them through the complete OT process from admission to discharge. As a complex area that encompasses cognition, communication, physical and sensory issues, it has provided me with valuable knowledge and skills that will inform my future practice in a wide variety of other settings.
