• Represented the Department before legislators and committees, acting as liaison to legislative and leadership offices during a period of major child protective services reform.• Primary point of contact for the legislative budget committees and developed cost estimates for legislation.• Educated legislators on public policy issues affecting Texas’ vulnerable children and adults.• Advised the Commissioner on legislative matters.• Developed messaging for legislative agenda, monitored legislation and developed a plan for implementation.• Worked with local officials to facilitate a strong working relationship between the Department and Texas communities.
