I focus on enhancing people’s experiences.Sometimes this means helping colleagues by offering support and guiding them. I like to adjust my approach to best fit their needs – do I give them a list of possible solutions, ask them to come up with ideas, or crack a joke to lift the mood?One recent experience in which I supported others was in summer 2019. Many people in a social group that I am part of expressed a desire to deepen our interest in the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL). I had already enjoyed keeping track of National Hockey League (NHL) games using an online calendar subscription created by the league. However, the NWHL is a smaller organization which did not have the resources to create a platform like this. I know that a digital calendar makes the process of investing oneself in a new sports team much more approachable, so I decided to create one myself to share with my colleagues.I began by entering dates, times, and locations into a separate downloadable iCloud Calendar for each of the league’s five teams. My goal was to create the most user-friendly experience possible, as I knew that most would only want to follow one team. I then compiled links to download the calendars along with a concise description of their purpose into a single post which I shared. Several of my colleagues reached out to say that the calendars helped them keep track of games and feel more prepared going into the season. I have observed that many of those who downloaded the calendars have been consistently watching games and thus staying on track to achieve their goals.
