It's ironic that two experiences related to my previous career led me to what I am doing today. During my first year teaching in Atlanta, I taught in an old classroom that had wall to wall carpeting and no windows. My allergies, which I didn't have prior to the job, became so bad that I often had to drive home from work and crawl into bed because I couldn't function. Fortunately, the following year I got a new job at a different school and was able to leave that musty, moldy classroom - and my allergies - behind. When my oldest son was in Pre-K, he was sick all the time. A typical cold would turn into severe wheezing and ear infections that lasted for weeks. Over the course of my fourteen year adventure as a high school teacher, I mastered organization, interpersonal skills, multi-tasking, and written and oral communication. I motivated both students and colleagues; I dealt with conflict resolution on a daily basis; I found creative solutions to problems; I managed a team of 12 colleagues; I met deadlines; I improvised if a plan wasn’t working; I devised fun and challenging lessons; and I continuously learned new material. Most importantly, I demanded the best of myself each and every day.
