My career has moved in ways that I could have never anticipated after I graduated from Waikato University with a Marketing Degree. Starting out in Sole Charge Office Management role, then with a year's experience under my belt, hooking the marketing job of my dreams with Lampen Recruitment. A perfect entry level job into the world of corporate marketing that had me doing everything from ordering new marketing brochures to editing our esteemed HR focus client newsletter to organising major release events in cities around NZ. A challenging role but one that gave me a taste of every area of marketing. Needing to spread my wings, I moved into the niche of Direct Marketing (remember wine clubs in credit card statements anyone?) in a world before social media where the letter was king. It was also a world of spreadsheets, analysis, management meetings, report writing and learning to love wine.An overseas experience saw a move to our UK subsidiary that was even more exciting with access to vast amounts of travel. After a short time away from work, and teaching myself the basics of HTML, I set up my own business and began offering website design and development services to small local businesses in East Yorkshire who weren't big enough to be serviced by the larger agencies. Being a small one-person agency meant that I did everything from client acquisition to website design including copy writing and graphics to making the tea (Yorkshire of course).As social media took off, my services expanded to include teaching small business how to make the most of this exciting new marketing channel. A job that I very much enjoyed and that led to a relationship with another local business, a training centre where we further developed our social media training courses including the development of an online accredited Social Media Certificate that I researched and wrote.A move back to NZ in 2016 after 16 years in the UK saw the end of my web design business and a new part-time contract role with a local social media agency, creating online content for small NZ businesses. So here we are. I'm currently retraining in body therapy work and enjoying every minute of it. Exciting times ahead!Specialties: Marketing background with experience in both a corporate setting and small business, copywriting, social media content publishing, website development knowledge + administration. Office administration, project management, report writing are other areas I enjoy. I am now based in Auckland, New Zealand.
